Missions
It has been amazing to watch God plant a mission vision in the hearts of the FCS high school family. Our first group of 11 student missionaries went to Guatemala in 1991. Since that time we have expanded from one trip per year to three or four trips. Students have participated in ministry with schools and churches as well as various types of community outreach. There have been in-country trips to Kentucky, Mississippi, and Richmond, Va. as well. International trips have included Guatemala, Uruguay, Peru, Kenya, Argentina, Haiti, Nicaragua, and France.
These trips have included a wide variety of activities such as plucking chickens, building classrooms, digging drainage ditches, doing street mimes, being interviewed on radio, teaching baseball, singing on TV, meeting a mayor, sharing with street kids, and using caving and climbing excursions to teach about trust, faith, and being a light in the world. This year students have already participated in a medical mission to Haiti; others are preparing to go to Uruguay and Mississippi over Easter or to Tanzania in June. All of the teams are grateful for the doors of ministry that God has opened, but we are also thankful for the many who have supported these projects both in prayer and financially.
