Beliefs & Objectives

Fredericksburg Christian Schools is an evangelical, non-denominational school |
At the heart of FCS’ philosophy is the conviction that God’s Word is completely true and speaks to every area of our lives today. The school staff constantly checks its instruction, discipline and relationships against the Bible’s message, and works towards a more biblical approach.

We believe that in all things it is essential to:

From this basis, FCS believes that parents bear the primary role of training their children. In support of that role stand two institutions: the church and the school. FCS strives to work in partnership with the parents and the church to provide a strong academic foundation on which children can build a lifetime of Christian service. It is FCS’ ultimate goal that each student develop a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Further, the school desires that each of its families be Christ-centered and active in a local church.
Because of these beliefs and desires, FCS tries to be sensitive to the home backgrounds of each student and to build children’s respect for their parents’ authority. Similarly, FCS aims to promote respect for each church family to which its students belong. Therefore, in biblical instruction, FCS focuses on fundamental truths from God’s Word (see our statement of faith), leaving specific doctrinal questions for parents and their churches.
At school, the teacher stands in the place of the parent. This necessitates frequent communication between staff and parents so that the school and the home work as partners. These discussions – characterized by a Christian spirit of love – should reflect an openness to deal with both positive and negative factors.
As you can see, the center of the school’s program is its teachers. FCS seeks teachers who are solidly committed to Jesus Christ and who communicate God’s love and principles for living by both word and example. (Ephesians 4:11-13) The school also seeks faculty who have the necessary academic certification and the skills to teach effectively in each area of instruction. God has blessed FCS with staff who care deeply about the students and each other, and who work hard to maintain a loving, family atmosphere. (Deuteronomy 6:1-9; Ephesians 6:4; Proverbs 22:6)
How well the school can accomplish the above goals “to the glory of God” (I Peter 4:11) will ultimately determine its success. If we exalt God rather than men, then students, teachers and parents will see each other as the Lord’s special creations. Together, we will teach students to desire a closer relationship with their Creator and equip them to serve Him all of their lives.
