Literature

Sixth grade literature is presently reading a book called Tirzah, which ties in with their history and Bible classes. The sixth grade will also be reading short stories, poetry, and other novels throughout the year. They will be doing projects on the medieval period at the end of the year.

Some of the novels that the seventh grade are discussing are Through Gates of Splendor, Incredible Journey, The Fantastic Voyage and The Twenty-One Balloons. There are many fun ways to make literature come alive. Recently the seventh graders had to create their own game, drama, or prop to present their book reports to the class. Making reading fun helps to create readers for life.

Eighth grade literature classes read many books and do lots of different styles of writing. Right now the eighth grade is enhancing their skills in taking notes and reading short stories. Every summer the 6th-8th reads a novel. The eighth grade read a book called The Light in the Forest to tie in with their Indian unit in history class, and they are tested to see what they remember.
