 English

/files/Middle School/academic pics/english.jpgThe sixth grade English classes learn about the parts of speech and sentence structure and how to recognize run-on's and fragments. The sixth graders also study the Greek and Latin roots of words. They are busily writing short stories, essays and poems for the ACSI writing contest, which is one way the sixth graders excel in their writing skills.

There isn't a dull moment in seventh grade English. They will be working on parts of speech and their uses, locating complements, and recognizing run-ons and fragments. Writing is also stressed in seventh grade. They strive to be their best and enter works of writing in the ACSI writing contest. Throughout the year the students will study the parts of speech and their uses. Seventh graders also learn Greek and Latin roots of words.

The eighth grade will be fine tuning their writing skills through journals, essays, creative writing and reports. They will be writing a science research paper which will prepare them for high school. They will work on the Internet and type the report and meet the writing objectives set in English class. Projects are coordinated with other classes.
