Art

Whether learning the fundamental concepts of drawing and painting in Art I or taking a more in-depth look at 2-D art in Art II and Art III, art at FCHS can be FUN. Each student is given the opportunity to become more fully involved in the visual arts at FCHS.  All art activities encourage creative expression through God's perspective - NOT man's perspective.

Emphasis in Art I is on Studio Art. Not only do students explore various media for drawing such as pencil, charcoal, pen-and-ink and pastels; but also, they examine watercolors and acrylics for painting. Art II students use the skills learned in Art I to experiment with various mixed media and printmaking. Art III students concentrate on polishing their artistic abilities and technical skills learned in Art I and Art II. Selected students from the Art III class, who are interested in an art career, will be allowed to complete an art portfolio for college entrance. Creating sculptures in 3-D Art futher enhances the art experience. At each level of art, Art History and Art Appreciation are integrated into the curriculum.

Interest has been at an all-time high this past year. There was a demand for additional art classes which resulted in two new classes, Art II Drawing and 2-D Mixed Media, being introduced. With growth came a need for a larger art room.

Learning to draw, learning to paint, learning to sculpt, etc. are SKILLS that CAN BE LEARNED. If interested in exploring your potentials, come join the FUN and discover YOUR artistic abilities! If you want to be successful in art, you MUST BE DISCIPLINED and you MUST BE WILLING TO WORK.
